hi sorry for the dumb question. I'm involved in some electrical engineering projects. It would be ideal to have a programming environment, and a language that is cross platform.

I would prefer not to use java due to the pain of jre/jrc...

like should i use python? does it run on windows? i'd like a good environment too.

I need to be able to do mouse/keyboard events. It also needs to be able to use the serial connection... would be ideal if i could do linux commands too

if anyone knows thanks!

Python runs on most major platforms (including Windows, Linux, and Mac), and would be a great choice. You will need to install the Python Interpreter on your systems however.

But yeah, Python is an excellent choice. I'm not sure what do you mean about being able to use Serial, so I'm not entirely sure though. :P

You also need PySerial installed. And the target computer should also need the Python interpreter and PySerial installed to run your program.
