C and K are not the same...

(Breezy Badger, Daper Drake, Hoary Hedgehog, Warty Warthog..)
(BB, DD, HH, WW) CK doesnt fit.

1) a Kumquat is a fruit.

2) The KDE Kabalists will probably protest that their favorite letter should not precede the codename of a primarily GNOME distor.

I vote for 'Tipsy Tapir'. A tapir is a good animal that fits the spirit of Ubuntu perfectly. They are important in the distribution of seeds in rainforests and provide a good indicator of the general health of the area - a rainforest that has tapirs (assuming that they live there to start with) is a healthy one, and a rainforest that has no tapirs any longer is not. They also happen to be very sweet-natured and gentle (despite their size and strength). Indeed, I suspect that tapirs think that they are about the size of mice ;)

As for the 'tipsy'... think of a tapir that has come across a crop of over-ripe bananas that have started to ferment. Given the love for bananas that tapirs have, it wouldn't be long until it had stuffed itself and become a little tipsy :)

If Tux hadn't become the official Linux mascot, a Malayan Tapir would have been a perfect alternative :)

If you don't believe me, take a look at these images:

Keep in mind that release names aren't just randomly selected within the present naming scheme; they have their implications about the state of Ubuntu. See this post (http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=369240&postcount=7).

Is that official or just what one poster says?

I personally don't see why they have to be kept in alphabetical order, as they are only development names, after all. If, as is suggested in the link, they need to be in alphabetical order to keep our sanity, then we really don't have any hope at all. Anyway, as it also says, certain letters may be skipped.

Okay, I confess that I am biased - after all, 'Tipsy Tapir' will take years to come around if we follow the alphabet ;)
