hello,

yesterday i decided to finally solve all my pulseaudio related problems by simply removing it, so i removed some other files as well, which were automatically suggested for deletion. now i think i should've at least gone through the list of these files and taken a second to think twice before removing them. now i have no navigation bars whatsoever and every time i insert a cd and try to browse it ubuntu freezes, which tells me that i've deleted something pretty important for the system. but what?

so, how can i access the terminal, given that i have no navigation bars and where do i find the log file? i assume that first, i need to check which one of the files i deleted is causing trouble and second, that reinstalling it will solve this problem.

am i on the right track and do you have any suggestions?
