ten times faster than usb 2.0

Why not simply have a usb only computer?
usb monitor, harddrive, etc...

Because, by then, SSD drives will probably be even faster. ;)

Because a USB serial monitor connection is not a good idea....if my monitor were attached via USB and not DVI-my CPU?GPU would need to process and compress data onto USB for each and everyone of my 1.7 million pixels on my monitor-in terms of RGB, that means 50 times a second my CPU would have to process and send ~6 million data points to my monitor...and then the monitor would have to Deprocess that data into it's own way of thinking these things....

You end up wasting LOTS of computer power for something like a computer monitor. A USB3 has what 4 or 6 pins in the connector? A DVI has a total of 29. It is just wasteful to use USB for a monitor.

well that means usb 3.0 won't be a standard in 2010. i think it will take much more years... now it's open to hardware developers i think. but it sounds fantastic anyway (e.g. for laptop musicians!); actually i'm enough ok with firewire. well however firewire is a better option than usb 2.0, it doesn't get that popular...

Because USB is not suitable for those applications.

Firewire is actually way faster than usb when it comes to sustained throughput.
