View Full Version : [ubuntu] Login window alternatives?

Hi...

I'd like either:
- One login window where the name and password fields are both on the same window.
- Or a login window with user icons that when clicked asks for the password.

We're rolling out some Ubuntu workstations to employees and every once in a while some of our less computer savvy users will get confused between the user name prompt and the password prompt. I'd like to make things as simple and *obvious* as possible for them.

Any suggestions?

8.10 gnome.

SLiM ( http://slim.berlios.de/) supports XDM dual input controls.

Search gnome-look.org for gdm themes that include a facepicker for the latter of your two choices. Many regular gdm themes use the same input field for username and password.
