I was playing around with an installation of Ubuntu and I noticed that Gnash and Swfdec appear to be more popular than flasplugin-nonfree. Which do you use, why?

Poll to come.

Part way through writing this poll, I realized that a lot of people probably get Flash from the Adobe website and therefore skew the statistics. This poll is likely more valuable because of this.

I currently use the proprietary Adobe Flash Player, but I'm testing out Swfdec. Will post back with more info later.

I'm the only person so far to select swfdec. It is part of GNOME you know.

synaptic says the flashplugin-nonfree installed from the repos is version 10, and about:plugins says the same.

I think Hardy has version 9 and Intrepid has version 10.

I go with the proprietary version. I've tried Gnash before, but it is very unusable compared to the official Flash plugin.

Currently i use gnash because nonfree had a critical vulnerability (http://www.adobe.com/support/security/bulletins/apsb08-24.html)

I just checked and there is an updated version in the repositories so i will probably switch back as gnash has still many problems.

I didn't know that there was an alternative to the non-free ones.
I just used the one available from the adobe website.

Maybe I should check out the others..

Thanks,
Hayden

I currently use Flash from Adobe.

I've played with Swfdec and Gnash, especially like Swfdec. I look forward to the day when either can be included with Ubuntu without too many problems occurring.
