gimp image editor is not running no more

Hi....
I'm new in ubuntu here, I am photoshop user when it comes to graphics in windows enviroment, i found that gimp image editor is close to be an altenative to that in ubuntu though its hard to learn, The problem is that it does not run in my computer since i installed gimpshop.deb, *** matter of fact i expected to see gimpshop as one of the application but its not there at all!
If there is someone to help me on this i will apprecheate that as long *** i want to shift from windows completelly

You should be able to see Gimp Image editor under Applications>Graphics>GIMP Image editor, it is installed by default.
If it is not in the menu then try going to System>Pref>Main Menu and highlight "graphics" on the left and then on the right window tick "GIMP Image Editor" then check the menu (Applications>Graphics>GIMP Image editor) again.
