As the title says, is there a way that I can VNC (through SSH tunneling) into my Ubuntu Hardy machine, but have it just give a default black background so that it doesn't lag on render? When I initially VNC into it, it takes forever for it to properly render my background image, and being that there are bandwidth issues at work, I can't afford to sit there and let it load. if it would be a default blank/black background, I would think that load times might be a bit better, and it might not have to transmit so much data.. this is from also remote accessing my windows partition (when I decide to boot into it, rather than hardy). Windows allows me the options of not showing background, or animations, etc. any way to do this when SSH Tunneling/VNCing from XP to my ubuntu laptop?
