View Full Version : [ubuntu] install question about 64bit

I DLed ubuntu-8.10-desktop-i386.iso witch is the 64bit version i believe and im going to duel boot it off my XPS 410 will that file come with a boot loader or will i have to DL one and if so witch one and should i DL a partition program like bootcmp or will it partition the drive for me ?

It will install a bootloader, it has a parrtitioner and will if you want do it for you.

You have though downloaded the 32 bit version, the 64 bit is the amd64 I believe without looking.

i386 is 32-bit, you want the amd64 ISO. All Ubuntus come with the grub bootloader, and allow you to partition your hard disk prior to installation.
