I have a desktop, a Dell Dimension XPS T900. I have upgraded it quite heavily, but it still has the original PIII 600 mhz processor and motherboard. It also has to HD's (40 gig and 8 gig) and 640 megs of RAM (2X256, 1X128 ).
I would like to install Kubuntu 8.10. As far as I understand, 8.10 should work on my desktop, but it does not. Install fails. 6.06's install also fails. The newest version which I am able to install is 5.10, which installs with no problems. However, upgrading to 6.06 from within 5.10 also fails, because of an error in downloading the required files.
Does anyone have any ideas what is going on? Is there anymore information needed to diagnose this problem?
