Hello,
Since a few months I'm a happy owner of Ubuntu. One thing I noticed is that when I boot my machine, and choose Ubuntu, I sometimes have a black screen when the boot procedure is finished. So, no log in screen!
What I think happens is that the complete boot procedure is followed, but the last step, starting and showing the log in window fails. Today I had the boxes of my system on. I noticed the drum roll you hear when the log in window is displayed, was heard. On a whim I tried to log in. I succeeded. I heard the sound of a succesfull log in. But I still had a black screen.
So, is my X-windows system (or what Ubuntu uses) not started properly?
