nub needing help lol

so i have a mini mac and have been wanting to check out Ubuntu for a long time, well i bought the ubuntu 8.10 32bit repositories on DvD from on-Disk.com and got them yesterday and partitioned my macs HD last night and put the DvD in thinking there was a autorun on it but no luck i went it to the folder to look around and i have no clue what to do .any help would be awesome thanks

You need to boot from the DVD.

Go into your BIOS, and set your machine to boot from CD.
