Hi,
I've never used Ubuntu before so I decided to try it out on virtual PC (which I've also never used before),
I'm sure the virtual PC is set up correctly though because I watched several tutorials and did as each one said,
I downloaded 'ubuntu-8.10-desktop-i386' but haven't burned it to a disc as you don't have to with virtual Pc apparently,
I then set the .iso file as the 'capture iso image...' selection which it said to do on the tutorials,
Then I reset it and the Ubuntu language selection comes up, I select 'English' and it goes to the installation menu, then I select 'Install Ubuntu' and all that happens is this:

No idea what it means as I've never installed an OS myself, is it because I need to download the 'Alternate' version if I'm not going to burn it to a CD?

Thanks in advance,
-Simon

I would suggest trying Ubuntu through the Wubi project, rather than going through VirtualPC, especially since you're not familiar with Ubuntu or VPC.

I agree with Hooya try wubi.

A friend of mine running Vista64 and Virtual PC found excellent support for Microsoft products under Virtual PC and glitches for other products which could be solved but by much hunting on the Internet for solution. Ubuntu did not install cleanly for him under Virtual PC; however: he raved about Windows XP, Windows 95 and FreeDOS.
