View Full Version : [ubuntu] [SOLVED] Issue downloading packages
January 9th, 2009, 04:19 AM
I've been using Ubuntu for a few months without any major issues. Recently though, the download speed for getting new packages has gotten ridiculously low... < 1 kb/sec. Previously it was more than 100kb/sec. I don't have any issues with my internet connection that I am aware of; is there something I can do to resolve this?

Their's a possibility of a Repository server being overloaded. Try changing your 'Software Sources' download server.

Try different servers? System, Administration, Software Sources, click the drop-down box next to Download from:, Other, Select Best Server.

Goto System > Administration > Software Sorces. On the drop down list beside Download From select other. Pick a different mirror, preferably on close to you. Try a couple to see which gives you the best speed.
