I tried insstalling 8.10 on a new 16gb ssd (two times) from scratch, and did the remix additions as found elsewhere. Each time I had problems with the top panel,with icons appearing only when the cursor was moved over them.
Programs would not run properly, and the top panel was partially written over. Its hard to describe the problems, but basically it was unusable.
Operation without remix was OK after converting the metacity item back to compiz, and disabling maximus & netbook-launcher.
Any ideas on how to get remix working?
