I recently purchased an Abit Ic7 motherboard. I installed it, and everything seems to be in working order. I put in the live cd to install ubuntu on my hard drive, and it hangs at the loading screen. I then popped in my live cd for openSUSE 11, and it displayed the following error a bunch of times:
ohci1394: fwhost-0: selfid is inconsistent. I then attempted to install windows, and that installed perfectly. I don't want to accept that windows can do something that linux can't, so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I disabled the firewire controller, and that fixed the problem. But, I'd like to have it enabled because I have a few firewire devices that I'd like to use.

I was installing 8.04 (I'm not a fan of the 8.10 release for various reasons I won't go into). I assumed that it did have firewire support, but I'll go look it up.
