I have several issues with Ubuntu 8.10 which were not a problem in 8.04. My question is :- can I roll back to 8.04 without losing my data and settings. If at all possible I really do not want to uninstall and reinstall.

You would have to reinstall Ubuntu 8.04 from a CD. There is no way to roll it back. If you data is on a separate home partition, then you would not have to reinstall it, but back it up before installing.

I also want to roll back my system since it takes about five times as long to power on and it runs very slowely in general.

My question is, where can I find a 8.04 CD? Is there a iso download still avalible or can I ask for an old CD to be shipped?

Thanks, Galen

http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download and select 8.04 LTS (second one in list). Good luck.
