An error occured during the update, when I booted up again I got this:

Aperture pointing to e820 RAM. Ignoring
Your BIOS doesn't leave a aperture memory hole
Please enable the IOMMU option in the Bios setup
This costs you 64 MB of RAM
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)
I'm trying to go back up 8.04 and using this: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DowngradeHowto
I booted from CD and moutned my disks, but when I do apt-get update.

and when I do dpkg --configure -a I get the log attached ending with:
