I have a Toshiba A200-1SX and for some time used a triple boot something like this: vista + ubuntu stable and when a new release came out I would install it and when it was stable enough I would completely abandon the last one to the new one (confusing I know). So a couple of days ago I decided to quit this and have Vista + ubuntu + ubuntu studio and then I realized how much of an dumb *** I was being.
Any how, my question now is, how can I put everything back to normal without having to redo all my configs on a new ubuntu 8.10 installation. the main problem is I have the useful ubuntu on sda7 but the computer boots from sda6.
I know I can possibly just clone sda7 to sda6 and then modify the grub menu.lst to boot the 'old' kernel on sda7 but won't I lose and have to remake the change manually in every kernel update? (because it asks if I want to keep my modified file or install the new one)
