I want to try Mezzo... has anyone had any luck installing it in *ubuntu 8.10? I know that SymphonyOS is the main vessel for Mezzo, but their forum seems to be down. I found the below instructions, but I cannot boot from a live CD any ideas on how else?

I don't know about the 2006 version of Mezzo off the top of my head, but as far as I know the Mezzo used in the latest Symphony release is just an FVWM configuration. I'll look into it more, if somebody doesn't beat me to the punch.

Mezzo seems to be a dead end anyhow, its supposed to be open source and yet I cannot find any way to remotely get the sourcecode for it.

Okay, I did some looking into the matter.

This article (http://www.linux.com/feature/133017) from linux.com is good for an overview of Mezzo.

In short, Mezzo is simply a specific configuration of FVWM, an entirely different window manager, with gDesklets thrown on top. There's more to it than that, but not much. I know I've got a Symphony 2008.1 CD around here, maybe I could pull out the Mezzo FVWM configuration files.
