I don't know if this is the correct place for this, but...

Just purchased this laptop, installed Ubuntu 8.10. Everything works great out of the box. Wireless, Desktop effects. This is a great laptop for a beginner Ubuntu user.

Best part is, Best Buy (at least the one near me) is selling this for $399.

I'm very excited to be part a Linux user again...my last laptop had that AR242x wireless chipset, I got it working for 1 minute once. The AR9821 (AR5B91) chipset here has drivers built into Ubuntu.

Everything works pretty good. Just switched from OpenSUSE 11.1 and I have noticed a considerable increase in performance w/ Ubuntu. I've only been using Linux for about 2 weeks and I'm pretty impressed!! I'm sure I'll be buggin people with a lot of ?s on here. Later..

I have got Acer Aspire 5730z and have a lot of problems with ubuntu 8.10:

audio problems with Ubuntu start-up music (the sound "jumps")
audio is very low even if alsamixer levels ar at top
sometimes it's not possible to start the system after suspending/hybernating
sometimes ubuntu doesn't start at all

Make sure the PCM slider is all the way up, that fixed it for me.

Also this may sound weird but, Alpha 6 of Jaunty seems to work better for me than Intrepid.

Aspire 5735, Jaunty dual-booted with the preinstalled Vista. Generally OK but following problems need attention.
1. Inbuilt Suyin Webcam doesn't seem to work on (eg) Skype. How do I test it?
2. Vista sits in a shrunken partition but it doesn't start.
