Ubuntu 8.04
I got Samba via Synaptic. It shows as installed on my system, but
I cannot find it. I cannot find it in Applications or Admin.
Where the hell is it kept? Should I have rebooted first?

There isn't a GUI, as such
(but there is a web-based config utility called swat)
the main samba config file is
/etc/samba/smb.conf

There was a GUI entry in System|Admin in the last incarnation of
Ubuntu (8.10) I had running.
/etc/samba/smb.conf is gobbledeygook to me!
This morning I was unable to create shared folders (allowing
other people to write to them). Something about a 255 error.
This afternoon, for whatever reason, I CAN share folders !!!
Thank you for the reply.
