I've noticed that my desktop session stops registering mouse clicks after a while. Key strokes and shortcuts continue to work as expected. It is not clear what is causing the problem. Restarting the X session by logging out or rebooting is the only work around I've found.
Ubuntu 8.10 has been installed from scratch. The high contrast theme is in use. Visual effects have been disabled. The only proprietary driver in use is the "NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (version 177) [Recommended]".
