knetworkconf disappeared!

hi i was playing around with graphics drivers when i messed up xorg and had to reconfigure.
everything is back to normal except straight after running dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg knetworkconf ceases to exist which means no internet?

how do i get it back and what could have caused it?

hmm restarted and somehow it works again? is that something to do with recovery mode?
