Heya! I know this is a terribly noobish question, BUT...

I just installed Ubuntu after having installed Vista, but the boot select screen isn't coming up!?

Last install was just layered on top of the Vista partition (ingenious design, by the way), but I wanted to give Ubuntu it's very own playground. So, I reformatted the system drive and made 2 new partitions; one for swap, and one for the ext3 file system. I left the mount point for the ext3 partition as '/'. I installed Vista before Ubuntu, as always, and this is the first time Ubuntu hasn't come up with that spectacularly awesome boot screen.

What am I missing? Thanks in advance! ^_^

The same thing happened to me also.
I thought by mistake I installed over Vista.
Now I re-installed vista, planning to install ubuntu 8.10 again.
Waiting for the response here...

thanks
