View Full Version : [ubuntu] 8.10 Internet dropping on update/downloads

January 5th, 2009, 09:24 AM

I have never used Ubuntu before but i think it is a fantastic OS.

The only problem i am having is with updates and downloads. The internet works fine up until i try and update with the manager, it finds about 213 updates but as soon as it tries to download a large file it will appear to freeze... then i have no internet connection but it doesnt drop out... just doesnt respond and then i have to reset the modem to get the internet back up and working.

I can browse the internet all day long until i try and download large files.. for example "Frostwire" is about 7.3mb and one of the updates is about 7.2mb and the same situation occurs where thye internet dies and i need to reset the modem.

What can i do to resolve this issue?

Many thanks!
