Is he a "blood spatter expert" too?He predates the show. He's actually named for his (former) habit of jumping from deck to deck -- deck-ster -- Dexter.

Today he's strictly an indoor cat. He did kill one mouse inside, though.

Here are our 4 cats.

Sox, the black and white one, I wanted to call him Tux, but my kids wouldn't let me :-) He's really soppy - you can do anything to him and he doesn't care.
Diego - the stripy tabby one. He's quite timid, but can be very affectionate.
Midnight - the all black one, the aloof one, and is the boss.
Treacle - the tortoise shell one, very mischievous, always causing trouble.

They rule our house.

When I was a kid (many many years ago), one of our dogs liked to make a depression in the snow and curl up and sleep in it. He was half English Sheepdog (and half Pomeranian...) and had very thick fluffy fur. My cat at the time (and my favorite of all of them I have had) liked to climb up on top of the dog and sleep there. Unfortunately, we never had any film for the camera when she would do it.

I still miss Pooter Cat and Tuffy. :(

Her purr sounded like it was only firing on seven cylinders instead of all eight. It was very rough. My little sister named her and she was in the second or third grade at the time. :D

The cat loved to be held, and I frequently carried her draped around my shoulders. (I held her for a couple of hours every day when she was a kitten) She was just like a kid though. She would insist on following me when I would go hunting or fishing, but wanted to be carried when it was time to walk home.

we've had huey for a little over three years. he was a stray in our neighborhood that my wife thought belonged to a house down the street. every time she would go running, he would come up to her to have his head scratched. she wanted me to come meet him, so we went for a walk and ran into who we thought were his owners. they told us he was just a stray they were feeding (they already had two cats). so, we've had him ever since. he's a goofy little boy who loves to sleep. even though he's named after huey newton (because he looks like a black panther), he's not much of a militant radical.

http://e.imagehost.org/t/0060/huey1.jpg (http://e.imagehost.org/view/0060/huey1)

jimmy was a stray who was living on our porch much of last spring. we'd feed him and had a box set up with an electric blanket for him to sleep in. a rabies scare in our town made him an indoor cat. unfortunately, he's fiv+, so we have to keep him and huey seperate. he was at our vets for about two weeks before we brought him home, and in that time, he attained rock star status with all the women who work there. anytime we bring him in, they all start cooing over him. he's quite a little muffin. i named him after my uncle jim, an easy going guy that everyone liked.

Chucky,
I had 2 FIV positive cats for a number of years. After a while, a stray, FIV - came into our lives. They all lived happily together. Eventually, the older of the FIV+ cats died. The remaining cat is still healthy at about 9 yo. Our household has another stray so the count is 1 +, 2 -.

The original FIV- stray is still that way. What you have to watch out for is transfer of blood. That means severe scratches or bites.

I wouldn't worry about it. Some FIV+ cats live a loooong time.

as i understand it, it's saliva from the infected cat to blood of the uninfected cat that we have to worry about. huey just scratched a giant gouge in his head (he has some allergies on top of being the itchiest cat who ever lived). we're not going to ever put them together (neither one is longing for the other's company anyway). jimmy's in pretty good shape, so we're hoping he'll live to at least fifteen (he's about seven now).

She's senile, incontinent, vomits almost daily, can no longer defend herself from the other cat. Frankly, I think she's better off dead. We got her back in 93 so it's not like she hasn't had a long life with lots of birds, mice, bugs and snakes dead in her wake.

Purring is often used by cats to relief them from pain.
Cat's can actually purr just before they die, like it gives them some comefort.

Strange, my cats purr when I stroke them..

That was 4 years ago, and he's obviously bigger now but that's still how I think about him.

This is Pixel a year ago looking very annoyed. Which is not surprising as he'd broken his leg, had a couple of operations only end up spending several months in a cage recovering.

My contribution :KS

The first photo is from mid way last year, and the rest are from late last/early this year. Two different generations of cats, three of the ones you see in these photos have been given away, and we kept the rest. They all came from the same mother (we got her desexed lately; she was pumping them out too frequently to handle :| )

There are a load of stray cats around this area, and so we tend to take care of a few of them. There are about seven or eight that regularly hang around now.

My cat and dog have a relationship something like that, except the cat wears the pants and does most of the grooming.

That's what happens when you lop off your dog's boys; they become quite literally *****-whipped.

This was our family cat back in August. She just passed away two weeks ago about one month shy of her twenty-fourth birthday. She's been with us for such a long time that her presence is still greatly missed.

I remember that when we first got her (as a stray) she'd not been weaned and we had to bottle feed her formula!

She was born back when Reagan, Thatcher & Gorbachev were still shaping our world, and Madonna, Wham and Simple Minds were still blasting the airwaves.
