Is it possible to reinstall XP on a dual boot system without the need to reinstall Linux?

I'm running Ubuntu 8.10 on a Dell Inspirion 6000 as a dual boot with XP. Over the course of the past three years XP began running ever slower and eventually became corrupted and unbootable. I need to reinstall XP but I would rather not reinstall 8.10 because its fine and it is configured exactly to my needs.

Save your personal Linux directory and data to an external device. Reformat to totally clean up your hard drive, then reinstall XP and reconfigure. Next reinstall Intrepid and your Linux home directory plus data from the backup. (Pictures, music, whatever was backed up that you wish to reinstall).

MS never intended to have it's OS play second fiddle to another OS, so it basically needs to be installed first. Linux has mastered the art of being your OS of choice, so handles that job with no problem!

Cheers :D
