I am completely new to Linux and thought it was time to check it out. I downloaded Ubuntu 8.10 from the website, ran the md5sum check and they matched. I burned the CD and choose the option to install inside of Windows. Windows is obviously on my C: drive, so I picked my D: drive which has plenty of free space. The initial setup is fine, and then it kicks out the CD and asks me to reboot. When I do and choose Ubuntu it starts to load, but when it gets to the part of partitioning it hangs at 5% and I have to do a restart. Everything in my PC works fine. I just reformatted both drives and reinstalled Windows. My D drive does have a couple of folders on it, but nothing big. I chose to use 15 gigs of my D drive for Ubuntu. Am I just out of luck or am I making a n00b mistake somewhere? Thanks for the help.
