OpenOffice.org 3 Presentation

On OpenOffice.org 3 Presentation, has anyone encountered the situation when going to Step 3 of starting a new presentation, and having PC "lock-up" when calling for "Select a slide transition" other than "no effect"? If an 8-effect transition is called, my PC locks-up tight and must be cold-booted to recover. If a 1-effect transition is called, the PC appears to lock-up, but disk usage indicator shows something is happening.

I got OpenOffice 3 from one of the repositories instead of downloading the archive from the OpenOffice.org download site.

Just tried it on my computer and it doesn't lock up at all.

Thank you for your reply. Did you get your OOo3 from "launchpad" or directly from the OpenOffice.org website?

I spent some more time troubleshooting the problem. It does NOT appear to occur when Preview is turned off. I can put a complex effect in a trial presentation and it will run w/o apparent problems. So problem looks as if is confined to the Preview pane in using the start new presentation wizard.
