View Full Version : [ubuntu] Can Nautilus be upgraded in Hardy?

I'm interested in upgrading from Hardy to Intrepid mostly because I want tabs in Nautilus. However, I'm a bit worried about trashing my VMWare install. I have tax stuff in that VMWare image and I can't lose any of that stuff (and I would hate having to re-install XP etc..). I've got a few questions:

1. Will VMWare get screwed up because of the kernel upgrade?

2. Is there some way to upgrade Nautilus by itself? I've seen a blog post about adding the intrepid repo and updating it, but I've also read that this can cause problems.

3. Will an upgrade to Nautilus be available in Hardy eventually?

4. What exact files should I backup in case of a VMware problem? I've done this before but ended up not being able to reload them (this was a couple of months back with Virtualbox, not VMWare).

I know people will recommend PCMan as well, but I'm using Dropbox and I happen to really like Nautilus anyway. But I am still open to suggestions.
