View Full Version : [ubuntu] Intalled Compiz, not working

Hi,
I installed Compiz, and it works for some of the effects, but when I try to use the 3d Desktop, it won't work properly: it just shows a long rectangle with the screens all run together, not in a cube. In addition, I have to set the desktop number to 4 or greater or it won't work, which makes sense, but the view does not change regardless. I'm sure this is simple, but I just can't figure it out.
Thanks,
Cameron

Are you sure you're not triggering "Expose" instead of the "desktop cube" effect?

If you have "desktop cube" enabled, usually ctrl alt (left or right arrow) will move the cube, when you're looking at the desktop. Also a middle mouse click will enable you to spin the cube.

Make sure you've enabled "desktop cube," "rotate cube" and "viewport switcher."

And as far as I'm aware, you do have to use 4 workspaces (no more, no less)

Cool, thanks. Enabling "rotate cube" made it work.

Glad to hear it worked. To mark this thread as solved, click on "thread tools" up at the top of the thread and then "mark thread as solved." That will help people who are searching for an answer to find this solution.
