Hi all,

First time poster... long time fan... i'll try to keep this succinct!

Need help and recommendations on a setup im looking at installing!

New 30gb SSD, and 2*250GB WD hdd. What I want to do is install all my OS's on the 30gig SSD, and then raid the 250's together in a RAID 0 config to store all media etc.

I have been doing alot of reaading on linux raid, and more specifically Ubuntu RAID setups. They only mention about installing the OS on a RAID drive. I dont want to install it on a RAID drive, I just want to RAID the last two hard drives.

This is the site that I have found most helpful and I will ref here (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/FakeRaidHowto)!

Would this be more difficult? And how in my install would I modify my RAID config for the alternate drives?

Bare with me, im a virgin to the LINUX world, but any advice, recommendations, pros/cons, and pointers would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for your time!

I'd be interested in this.

My research has suggested there are issues with on-board/software based fake RAIDs and Ubuntu including 8.10. Most of the recommendations I have read suggest going with a full hardware RAID controller.

Which model SSD have you gone with Lethal?
