View Full Version : [ubuntu] Ubuntu 8.10 install freezes half way through

Ok, I am new to Linux and Ubuntu

I am trying to install Ubuntu 8.10 on a Gateway Laptop and it gets about 56% of the way through and a black screen comes up and the install seems to, for a lack of a better word, stall. The mouse arrow is present and I can control it. Live CD works fine as well. Any thoughts?

Dont boot into the live version of ubuntu to install, boot into the installer section. If all else fails, download the alternate install disk and install via text based installer.

Thanks ChanServ...the alternate install disk worked like a champ!
