root login?

is there some way to login as root as well as user? i am familiar with sudo but would like to sign in as root occassionly.

It's possible.. but not really necessary since everything can be done with sudu.. If you follow the instructions here.. http://manishtech.wordpress.com/2007/07/21/enabling-root-login-in-ubuntu/ that should work.

At least give it a read over, because if you break something and go asking for help, and it comes out you were running as root, it will be a big distraction in solving the actual problem.
