Hi, have ubuntu intrepid. I decided to try out KDE. I installed it via synaptics. I noticed the fonts were screwed up in kDE... By screwed up, I mean unreadable... not all text... just parts of text. It's as if the text has random horizontal lines in it. even in firefox. I could get the fonts to get fixed by moving the window or scrolling or highlighting the text. It's weird. But once I scroll or go to a new page, different parts of the screen get messed up.

I changed my desktop environment back to ubuntu and then even to xubuntu. My fonts are still screwed up. Any ideas what this could be?

try to complete the kde install from gnome terminal.
type
"sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop"
"sudo apt-get dist-upgrade"

That didn't do it, but I did find this similar thread.

This is strange because fonts were perfectly fine under ubuntu and xubuntu before trying KDE. Does KDE using a different/newer version of Xorg or driver... as the above link seems to blame it on?

temporary workaround by removing the nvidia driver in hardware drivers. Weird.
