Is there not an upload form on the page? What web page are you uploading to?

Do you want to upload via HTTP or FTP?
If FTP, do you a FTP account/permission?

I should have permissions, I think.

- oh and I just want to upload some stuff to it, don't care how I go about it.

often you can upload to a webserver with ftp. If you have the username and password, use an ftp client (like filezilla or gftp) to connect to ftp://the.subdomain.edu
If it lets you connect you should be able to move files freely between your computer and your root on the server.

...Or try this:

Server: ftp.deakin.edu.au
Username: Your Username
Password: Your password
