Hi

I have recently install DVD::RIP and Transcode on Ubuntu 8.10. I got a 'broken package' warning which I addressed via Synaptic and the 'broken' filter. The packages wouldn't fix, so I decided to do a total uninstallation so I could reinstall from scratch. I got this message:

E: /var/cache/apt/archives/libmjpegtools0_1%3a1.8.0-0.9_i386.deb: trying to overwrite `/usr/lib/liblavjpeg-1.8.so.0.0.0', which is also in package libmjpegtools0c2a

I was also informed that I could not report the problems because my Ubuntu install is not genuine. Can I save the situation or is this a case of reinstalling Ubuntu 8.10?

If you are only using Ubuntu; use Gparted and reformat the hard drive. Also burn a new CD after doing md5sum on the iso. Burn at 4x or less. Do not use CD-RW
Clean the lens in your burner
Download and install ImgBurn:
http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download
Go to Mode>ISO>Burn
Select 1x as your speed of burn.

Many thanks, Pumalite. I now have 8.10 installed and working properly.
