#2 looks like an AMR slot to me (Audio Modem Riser); but usually, AMR slots are the last in line.

The card will fit/work in the first slot but it will most likely cover the second, so you won't be able to use it.

The PCI slots are the older slots. The newer versions of them are the PCIe's, otherwise known as PCI Express slots. All I know is that when you see a card you want, just make sure you have an available slot of the type that the card is specified as. I refer to the 2 differant PCI Express slots as the big one and the small one. You can pretty much tell them apart just by looking at them after you've seem a few of them.
I have the Gforce 7200GS card and it has been great. But since I upgraded to Intrepid I have not had luck with the linux drivers working properly and so I can not enable advanced desktop effects.
I'm just saying this to let you know to be sure the Ubuntu supports it before you get it.

Why not simply look at the manual for accurate information?
http://download.ecsusa.com/dlfilepcc/manual/A33G_1.0.pdf
or http://www.pcchips.com.tw/PCCWebSite/Products/ProductsDetail.aspx?CategoryID=1&TypeID=35&DetailID=381&DetailName=Feature&MenuID=1&LanID=0
Expansion Slots
• One PCI Express x16 slot
• One PCI Express x1 slot
• Two 32-bit PCI slots for PCI 2.3 compliant bus interface
• One optional CNR slot
The XFX 9600GT is one sweet card for the price they are going at and overclocks like hell if you need that.
