This morning I was upgrading to jaunty using update-manager when I noticed something funny.

The upgrader is "fetching" files. I come from Australia and I have a lot of south African friends and they always say "I'm going to fetch the kids" and every time i make a joke like: "I thought only dogs fetch"

It's no surprise seeing as Mark Shuttleworth is South African but still quite interesting/funny

I wanted to leave

The true meaning of the word "fetch" is to serve, as in such way as to please or charm

Just so long as you don't have a typo and change the t to an l, it's fine.

The word fetch has several meanings, in the South African context we use it as:

transitive verb1 a: to go or come after and bring or take back <fetch a doctor>
intransitive verb1: to get and bring something

Yeah I'm not saying there's anything wrong or it was the wrong word to choose and I am definitely not trying to be racist just pointing it out thought it was funny:P
