I don't know why people should think Ubuntu is different to Debian - as far as I know, Ubuntu is Debian with a friendlier face for for mainstream users.:confused:

I don't know why Debian would have a problem with Ubuntu reaching millions of new users (like me).

I'm sure that Ubuntu obviously owes a lot of respect to Debian as it does provide the very foundations for Ubuntu. But at the same time, I think Ubuntu has rasied awareness that Debian even exists. Prior to me entering the Ubuntu/Linux world, I didn't really know anything about Debian at all. But now I do. But only because of Ubuntu.

As with any linux distro, you just have to pay respect to each other. After all, we're all in the same boat here. And the last thing we need is linux distros competing against each other rather than working and collaborating together.
