View Full Version : [ubuntu] [SOLVED] Error at startup(probably x-server)

Hi,

I have a little problem when starting up.
When it boots, it doesn't show the GDM but a terminal-like login.
After a few seconds my display goes completely black and my ponter is an x(I figured that to be the x-server). But GNOME was not started up. I get an error message which say my display settings were not configured. And it gave me the options to: 1. Use my backed-up configuration
2. Generate a new configuration
3. start ubuntu in safe-graphics mode
I thought it was a problem with xorg.conf. But I looked at it(safe-graphics mode) and saw no difference with my backed-up xorg.conf stored on my usb-drive.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
