Wow. This is fun! Free internet at all bedsides in NHS maternity hospitals... (Wifey asleep at the moment).

IE5 I think, the keyboard sucks - BUT I DON'T CARE! :P

Will keep you posted when the new "distro" is released...

Remember to install

sleepdeprivation as well as libTLC and libpatience5.11.

Also remember to upgrade your own distro to "Parent".

sudo apt-get install parent-modules :D

Ah, soon to be the joyful pitter-patter of another Ubuntu user.

How much longer before the wife spawns the child process?

These new systems don't come with much to start with, just the basic functionality needed to boot and maintain 100% uptime. Ultimately you may want the packages: spoken-language (this is not a real package, but refers to spoken-language-en by default, other options include spoken-language-es, spoken-language-fr, spoken-language-ru, etc), higher-eduction (depends on basic-education), and morals. New systems automatically begin interacting with others types of systems, like family, friends, colleagues, and even systems of the opposite type or completely different forms (please read up on "pets" and "aminals").

Also, they are not open source, but we have scientists currently working on decoding the genome from pre-compiled code, so in the near future they will be. Finally, they are not free as in beer (love is the only thing they get that doesn't cost anything), other non-free dependencies include clothing, food, and shelter.

Best of luck.

lol, you bunch of nerds.

Too damn right we are!

Hey guys, thanks for all the replies.

Well, the kernel compiled perfectly, but there's still a few bugs to iron out relating to processes leaking excess data everywhere.

Both parent and child processes are mutually compatible and running well.

PS It's a girl. I'm off to bed...

Congratulations! :) :) :) No errors during boot-up then? ;)

So what's the date of birth? 30th or 31st of December? Two of my friends have their birthdays today (31st Dec) and tomorrow (1st Jan). Almost as strange as having a birthday on Christmas.

Now, time for a love song...

That's a lot of info to copy in one fell swoop. Gotta make sure that you have enough ram in order to make the transaction go smoothly ;) .

Good to see you trying to get some sleep while you can. You'll have no such comfort in the upcoming future :)

Remember to flush her cache on a regular basis, since in younger processes they can get filled pretty quickly.

Vis a vis "Copy and Paste", my money's on it was a "middle click".

You should save this thread so you can show your daughter when she is old enough to understand how horribly nerdy you are.

WOW. So many responses. Thanks to everyone for replying.

So here's a quick update: she's doing fine - she booted up on the 30th at 16:31 GMT. Occasional system warnings occur. The messages are hard to define, but either cache clearing or various types of input seem to clear that problem.

Seems to go into sleep mode quite a lot (thankfully), though this seems to have eliminated parent process sleep modes. Other child processes are now being managed on an older machine (with stable kernel) for a further 24 hours until parent processes are normal(ish).

Nothing else to report at the moment except that we should all be ~/ very soon.

Congrats on the good news, our little bundle of joy is number seven - but that's enough (MS/Windows - take note).

Sleep? Lol. I rarely sleep anyway, 6-7 hours sleep in 48 is perfectly normal for me.
