Can you download that script from some other computer, and then transfer it to your Live CD desktop? Maybe using a floppy or better yet, a USB stick? It would sure help for troubleshooting. If you right-click this link (http://home.comcast.net/~ubuntu_grub/boot_info_script.txt) to the script in your web browser and choose "save link as", you should be able to save it and hopefully transfer it to your Ubuntu desktop. If you can get the "boot_info_script.txt" on your Ubuntu desktop, just run it with:
sudo bash ~/Desktop/boot*.txt
