View Full Version : [SOLVED] 8.10 Can connect to network with little to no internet access

I'm on a dual boot desktop with Windows XP and Intrepid Ibex. The internet on Windows XP works just fine. On Ubuntu however, WICD, shows that I'm connected just fine, but I have little to no internet access. If I use either Opera or Firefox, I can either not access a webpage at all (4 out of 5 times), or I can access a webpage but it takes at least five minutes to load up (1 out of 5 times). And for IRC programs, I keep on disconnecting every few minutes.

Internet was working just fine from when I did a fresh install of 8.10 Ubuntu up until two days after I installed Virtual Box and set it up for a virtual Windows XP. Even while I was doing this, the internet was fine for both Ubuntu and the virtual Windows XP.

I have made any changes to my system at all since I got VirtualBox working.

I ran the following within five minutes (I changed my ip address to just a bunch of one's):

So it was sort of working one minute, but less than five minutes later, it wasn't working...

I'm really at a loss here.

Someone suggested I try ndiswrapper. And I have. It works except I have to reinstall the drivers every time I start up my computer. It's really annoying.

Does anyone know a way around this?

Did you do this:

echo ndiswrapper | sudo tee -a /etc/modules
?
