Hi,
I'm trying to do something similar to what was discussed (but never resolved) here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=384583
Basically, I want to lock the desktop icons in place so they can't be moved around.
I have set up a simple computing environment for an elderly person, and it's going great, I think Ubuntu was a brilliant choice, I've managed to do everything I wanted to do, except this. She is only just getting used to using the mouse and has a tendency to drag rather than click, so I'd like to lock the icons in place to avoid accidental dragging - but as far as I have discovered, this is impossible.
Can anyone suggest a solution? I hear KDE has a slightly larger variety of kiosk-type options, but I don't want to switch desktop environments after the work setting the laptop up to be perfect. Seems like such a simple thing to want to do that someone must have done it already some how?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions. :)
