intrepid install wont partition

Is there any common reasons that upon installation it will fail to partition the disk to enable installation. i have previously had a ubuntuwubi installed, loved it and decided that i wanted to get a full upgrade however still dual booting with some space left for a windows partition. Any help appreciated. Thanks

the install attempt seems to actually have createda partition of the desired size however it has an unallocated file type, how can i set it to the ubuntu file type?
