Hay, at the moment I'm using the Gnome desktop but I was wondering how many environments are there? Just these three? are they unofficial environments that work out there?

Cheers
Joey

Actually, Comparison of X Window System desktop environments (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_X_Window_System_desktop_environments ) is probably a more specific link.

It's not complete (of course!), and it's a bit arbitrary on what is a DE and what is a WM, but all in all not a bad jumping off point.
