a native linux client is pretty much the only reason i purchased Defcon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defcon_(video_game)).

That makes a big impact on the decision of games I buy too lately. There is choice, so might as well support my words with my $$$.

I think there needs to be more simple IDEs for independent game makers. One of my favorite Windows apps was Adventure Game Studio, as it allowed the user to write fairly simple scripts and worry more about the visual and interactive aspect of the game. Professional? I wouldn't know, that's a debatable viewpoint.

But, AGS has a fantastic userbase of dedicated developers. We really should start thinking about making game development easier for beginners that don't want to just get their hands messy in code all the time.

I also bought the Overture games mostly because there was a linux port.
