No image when running installer

Hello,

Since I'm new to linux and Ubuntu my knowledge is near to 0.
Now i'm having this problem with my PC screen. When i run the installation program my screen turns black and there is no image. i have this with two screens with 1600 x 1050 resolution and 1600 x 1200.

i get a Out of range error message.

how can i fix this?

There should be an option in the Ubuntu live CD to "install from safe graphics mode" or something like that. Try that and see if it works. Or you could try to install Ubuntu with the alternate (text based) CD.

I assume you are trying to install the current version of Ubuntu 8.10, is that right?
